Youth Rodeo Association
About YRA
The Youth Rodeo Association (YRA) was organized to promote the sport of rodeo among young Americans and to improve the image of rodeo through improved cooperation of youth rodeo contestants, parents, and adults interested in the youth rodeo movement. The YRA is a nonprofit organization managed by a Board of Directors who is elected by the General Membership.

A contestant’s age is determined as of September 1.   If an event is not offered in a contestant’s age group, they may compete in the event in the next age group and any points won will be awarded towards the All-Around in the contestant’s original age group. To receive the year-end awards, contestants must enter and compete at the YRA Finals. To qualify for the YRA Finals, each contestant must:

  1. Be a member in good standing;
  2. Have entered and paid their fees in the event in six (6) rodeos they intend to enter; and
  3. Have sold $50.00 of raffle tickets.

Membership to the YRA consists of:

a.      Peewee Contestant Members:  Boys or girls who are 8 years of age or under as of September 1 of each year.

b.     Sub-junior Contestant Members: Boys or girls who are 9-12 years of age or under as of September 1 of each year.

c.      Junior Contestant Members:  Boys or girls who are 13-15 years of age as of September 1 of each year.

d.     Senior Contestant Members:  Boys or girls 16-19 years of age as of September 1 of each year who are not married (this refers to and includes both actuarial marriage and common-law or declared marriage, or previously married, having obtained annulment or a divorce).
e.       Associate/Parent Members:  Comprised of anyone who is interested in the promotion of the youth rodeo movement by their support spiritually, physically, and financially of the YRA.

The YRA places 65% of the entry fees in the jackpot for the payoff. The jackpot for an event is paid in the following manner:
